At the beginning of the first session we will spend time discussing your horse, any queries arising form the information provided on your intake form followed by a visual and physical assessment including palpations looking for soreness and restrictions.
All sessions are guided by the responses of your horse and the objective of the first session is to introduce your horse to the Masterson Method, to me and to create the space for your horse to release tension.
The initial session usually takes 1.5-2h and a follow-up session within 3-4 weeks is recommended.
In follow-up session we will continue to release tension and restrictions in previously observed areas and address new issues. As the horse becomes familiar with the method and the practitioner, sessions may take 1-1.5h. Usually a second session is scheduled within 3-4 weeks of the introductory session, any further appointments can be scheduled in a 3-6 months interval depending on age and workload of your equine partner.
Please confirm on booking if you are not planning to be present and let me know if there are any changes in your horse's health or performance.

Audit-only demos typically take around 2 hours to complete. During this time, attendees will watch me work through a whole horse bodywork session. There will be ample time allotted for open discussion around the principles of the Masterson Method® as well as what it is that I’m feeling and seeing throughout the session.
Interactive demos typically take around 3 hours to complete. To start the event, I will work through a mini whole horse bodywork session and will discuss the principles around the method. Attendees can then have a go on their horses and will learn several of the light touch Search, Response, Stay, Release techniques.
These demonstrations are a great way to become more familiar with the basic principles of the Masterson Method®, grow community and have the chance to view your horse through a different lens.
Your horse should be in a safe and familiar environment. Plan to give them a few extra moments to adjust before the session takes place.
Often sessions takes place outside. If so, please provide a source of protection from the elements (rain, snow, wind, heat etc). The environment needs be clean and flat to work in.
Sessions should occur in a location where they can come to a natural end and be done at a time when distractions are minimal.
Please remove any feed from the area.
Stabled horses benefit from being turnout prior to a session.
Masterson Method® works best with cold muscles so avoid intensive workouts the day of your session.
To ensure the sessions focus is on bodywork, please have your horse groomed and free of excessive dirt.
If you're scheduling a follow up session and will not be present, please let me know ahead of time. An extra fee maybe added should I need to halter and groom a horse prior to beginning a session.
If you choose to watch, please remain still and quiet and do not interact with horse.
I am happy to answer questions during rest periods or after the session is complete.
If you need to cancel a session and would like to receive a full refund, please do so at least 24 hours prior to your appointments start time.
Masterson Method® bodywork is not a substitute for medical treatment or medications. As a bodyworker, I am unable to diagnose, treat or give medical advice.
If your horse is lame, ill, injured or has a medical condition that may be of concern, please consult your veterinarian first. In these scenarios, bodywork must be cleared by a vet prior to a session taking place.
